Castaway Beach Resort is located in Koh Lipe which is a small island about 2km long in the Andaman sea, which is on the west coast of Thailand. The only inhabited island in the Tarutao National marine park, Koh Lipe is part of Satun province near Thailand's southern border.
Set at the southern end of Sunrise Beach and designed to feel like home, the Castaway Centre is the heart of our resort. Enjoy breathtaking sea views upstairs whilst eating breakfast. Hang out in the casual area or sit in our comfortable restaurant. The bar is perfect for musing on how good life is. Tucked downstairs we have our very own Castaway Divers.
Koh Lipe is a small island with limited resources and space. We respect the environment and are working hard to preserve Koh Lipe's beauty.
With careful design we have eliminated energy hungry air-con. Spacious bungalows are cool and airy. Our buildings are made of hardwood from responsibly managed sources. We aim to become carbon neutral and are working to convert our diesel generators to palm oil. Our water is heated by solar panels and some of our lighting is solar powered.
We only use washing products that are non-polluting and biodegradable. Packaging is minimised and re-used. Towels and bed linen are 100% cotton and we encourage guests to only change them when needed. Our organic waste is composted to enrich the soil.

The Castaway Beach Resort restaurant Castaway Beach Resort restaurant serves primarily Thai food with a few western dishes. Overlooking Sunrise Beach and facing the Andaman sea with a beautiful view of nearby islands, it is a relaxed and elegant setting, where you can eat and drink from breakfast till late.
You can't come to Thailand and not eat Thai food. Our chefs are proud of their national cuisine and delight in sharing it with you. They serve a full Thai menu with all the traditional favorites and a few island specialties to spice things up. Our barbecue serves fresh fish which we catch daily ourselves.
The Castaway Bar Whether its a pre-dinner drink or a lazy afternoon cocktail, our spacious and cosy bar is very welcoming. Enjoy fresh fruit smoothies, real coffee, a wide selection of spirits and mixers, wine, or simply a cold beer. With its breathtaking view our bar will make your days long and enchanting.

Leisure Activities
Koh Lipe in the Tarutao National Park is a small quite island, but there's more to do than just lie around! With the park at our door step there are a lot of water based activities and trips to go on.
Scuba Diving Go diving with our very own Castaway Divers! A diving trip is more than the time spent under water, it is the whole experience. Diving in small groups of up to eight people from purpose built long tail boats all our customers have a personal experience. Tarutao has a lot of coral reefs to dive with a large choice of sites for all levels of experience. We teach in English, Dutch and German.
Snorkelling Although diving is great fun, you don't have to dive in order to enjoy the wonderful sea life. Koh Lipe has several coral reefs including one right in front of the resort. Before going out have a look at our reef charts and learn a bit about the coral then snorkel out to experience it for yourself. Or if you like join one of our snorkelling trips to nearby sites and see even greater varieties of sea life.
Kids Snorkelling With so much to see under the water it should come as no surprise to parents to learn that kids love snorkelling. We have equipment for children of all ages and have selected sheltered sites that they can snorkel safely. As the seas become more acidic caused by global warming coral reefs are in great danger. We try to also educate young minds about the variety and importance of the oceans.
Island Trips With so many islands around there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about. Maybe you just want to spend the day on a deserted beach by yourself. Or if you want more of a challenge visit Koh Adang and go for a walk though the jungle and visit waterfalls. Monkeys, large lizards and sea eagles are just some of the animals that you can see around the park.
Kayaking Rent a kayak for a few hours and you can explore the reefs around the island, or for a more challenging adventure take a ride on a longtail boat further into the National Park and kayak into mangrove swamps.
