Suvarnabhumi Airport resumed full operations on 5 December 2008

At a meeting of all agencies concerned at the Ministry of Transport on 3 December 2008, it was decided that Suvarnabhumi International Airport would resume full operations at 11.00 hrs on 5 December 2008 after all agencies concerned have completed the final inspection process to ensure readiness of all systems at the Airport.
On 5 December at 11.00 hrs, Suvarnabhumi International Airport has resumed full operations. Representatives of the international community and concerned international agencies in Thailand observed the full resumption of operations at Suvarnabhumi International Airport from 09.30 hrs onwards. The ceremony was presided over by Acting Minister of Transport Mr. Santi Prompat.
Bangkok's second airport, Donmuang International Airport, has also resumed full operations since 4 December at 06.00 hrs.
The Cabinet on 9 December endorsed the Acting Prime Minister's announcement to officially lift the state of emergency previously declared over the areas of the two airport, as the situation at both airports has returned to normal. The Cabinet also approved the assistance package of Baht 2000 per day per person for stranded foreign tourists due to the disruption of service at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
